I am a warm, thoughtful, sensitive, and empathic therapist. I bring compassion, intuition, creativity, humour, and an eye for life’s details into my practice. Alongside my formal training I draw from a broad life experience including motherhood, travel, a career in cake design, and my own therapeutic journey. I was brought up in Cumbria, and returned 18 years ago. I now live in Kendal with my two children, and am truly grateful to be able to feed our souls with the people and nature that surround us in the South Lakes.
I work in person at the Porchlight Practice, online using zoom, and I also offer therapy in the outdoors. Alongside my private practice, I was one of the volunteer counselling team at Carer Support South Lakes.
My core training is in Transactional Analysis (TA), and I use an integrative therapeutic approach based upon what works best for you. TA is a humanistic and compassionate theory that supports individuals to improve their relationships, communication, work life, personal anxieties, and account for the past. I work collaboratively, meaning that you and I are actively engaged in the therapeutic process in an equal, reciprocal relationship. I provide support and challenge to help you grow, and make changes in your life. Regular reviews will be built into our sessions to enable us to clarify your needs and work towards your therapeutic goals.
I hold a diploma in TA Counselling, and a diploma in Integrative Psychotherapy.
In April 2020 I completed the CPD course: ‘How to do Counselling Online: A Coronavirus Primer’ offered by the Open University and the BACP.
I am a member of the BACP (British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy), and I abide by their ethical framework. I am also a member of UKATA (the UK Association for Transactional Analysis).
